MetOpera Concurso Winners Concert 2025

Some of the greatest singers of the Metropolitan Opera joined the Met roster through the company’s audition program for young North Americans – among them Renee Fleming, Thomas Hampson, Joyce DiDonato, and Jessye Norman. Today the audition program is known as the MetOpera Laffont Competition.

The competition dates back to the 1930s, but it was only in 2017 that the Met invited Mexico to be part of it. This opened the doors for young Mexican singers in large numbers to be seen and heard internationally. The San Miguel MetOpera Trust, A.C. (SMMT) was incorporated in 2019 to oversee the Mexico District of the Laffont Competition.

On Saturday, March 22, at 4:00pm, you will be able to hear the outstanding young voices of four of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition winners that the San Miguel MetOpera Trust has proudly sponsored. The venue is Casa Europa, San Francisco #23, in Centro.

The singers are Nohemí Lozano, soprano, from Mexico City; Misael Corralejo, tenor, from León, Guanajuato; Daniela Cortés, mezzo-soprano, from Saltillo, Coahuila; and Esaú Álvarez, baritone, from Durango. The pianist is Andres Sarré.

The program includes solos, duets and quartets, with music by composers such as Massenet, Puccini, Korngold, Rossini, Daniel Catán, and others.

All seats are numbered and reserved. The prices are 950 MX for VIP (first four rows) and 750 MX for Parterre (back six rows). Unsold seats, if any, can be purchased at the door.
