Get Happy: Second Show
Lady Zen, one of San Miguel’s best-loved and most versatile singers, was invited in October by Jazz at Lincoln Center to perform for 1,200 spectators at the Rose Theatre, and wowed the audience and the music reviewers. Zen meanwhile sang at the fabled Birdland jazz club in midtown Manhattan, and was a standout hit there as well – so much so that the club has added Zen to its shortlist of guest performers.
Spencer Day, meanwhile, has performed at Birdland numerous times, headlining the venue and celebrating album releases there, with glowing reviews highlighting his appearances in the club’s “Broadway at Birdland” series and other shows.
Zen and Day are longtime friends, but there had never been an in-concert collaboration of this powerhouse duo until this year. Their first concert together, Jazz Standards, at Hacienda el Santuario last month, sold out in a few days.
Their new show is called Get Happy: Lady Zen & Spencer Day Sing Hollywood and New York. The setlist includes New York songs, such as three Harold Arlen / Ted Koehler standards (“Get Happy,” “Stormy Weather” and “I’ve Got the World on a String”); Oscar-winning songs by Henry Mancini (“Moon River” and “Days of Wine and Roses”); along with other songs associated with movies, such as “Night and Day” and “As Time Goes By.”
The venue is Hacienda El Santuario, a luxury boutique hotel in Centro, at Terraplen 42 — an elegant setting where you can relax with a cocktail or order food from the menu (the kitchen has been rated “exceptional” on Booking.com), while enjoying the music.
All seats are 650 pesos. Tickets may also be purchased for cash, with no additional fees, and picked up at THE COFFEE SOCIETY. Write to info@boletocity.com to select your seats and have your tickets printed.
