Mexico City’s hottest power trio, A Love Electric, has given over five hundred international concerts – from festivals such as Solarte in Spain, Winter Jazzfest in New York City, and in theaters, clubs, and concert halls from Town Hall in New York to B Flat Jazz in Berlin. Its lead guitarist, singer/songwriter Todd Clouser, has been likened by reviewers to Jimi Hendrix (Philadelphia Inquirer) and Eric Clapton (Jazz Times). Another reviewer has described the sound of A Love Electric this way: “It’s jazz and the blues; it’s funk and old-school 70s rock; its good, damn good music.”

Local jazz keyboard artist Doug Robinson is producing a one-night-only concert at the San Miguel Playhouse, Avenida Independencia 82, on Saturday, May 6, 7pm, headlined by A Love Electric, but also featuring Robinson’s own band, Mo’ Ritmo. The roster of musicians, apart from Robinson and Clouser, makes for an all-star lineup: bassists Aaron Cruz and Javier Regalado, percussionists Jorge Servin and Victor Monterrubio, and guest guitarist Francisco Lelo de Larrea. It is certain to be one of the spring season’s most exciting concerts.
