Valentine’s Day at the Opera
Opera San Miguel is celebrating its ten-year partnership with Amistad Canada with a special Valentine’s Day fundraising concert, featuring two award-winning opera singers – a soprano and a baritone – accompanied by a virtuoso pianist. The concert is called Valentine’s Day at the Opera.
The soprano is Tania Solís, from Veracruz, Mexico, a widely touring and highly acclaimed singer who has performed as a soloist with the most important orchestras in Mexico, including the National Symphony, the Xalapa Symphony, and the UNAM Philharmonic.
The baritone, Canada’s Jamal Al Titi, born in Belarus, is a laureate at the 2025 Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques auditions and winner of the OSM award. In 2025, Jamal joined the International Meistersinger Academy in Germany, where he was a soloist with the Nuremberg Symphony. Other career highlights include performing the title role in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi at the Netherlands Lyric Opera Festival.
The pianist, Mario Alberto Hernández, has been an accompanist and conductor with the Cervantino Festival, the Festival of Sinaloa, and the Mexico City Festival.
In observance of Valentine’s Day, Tania and Jamal will sing arias and duets on the themes of love and romance. The duets will include “La ci darem la mano” from Mozart’s Don Giovanni; “Doute de la lumière,” Hamlet and Ophelia’s duet from Ambrose Thomas’s Hamlet; and “Pronta io son” from Donizetti’s Don Pasquale. Arias will include “Avant de quitter ces lieux” from Gounod’s Faust; and “Ya vas lyublyu” (I love you), from Tchaikovsky’s Queen of Spades, among many others.
The concert will take place at El Sindicato, Recreo 4, in San Miguel de Allende, Zona Centro, at 1pm, on Saturday, February 14, 2026. The first three rows of seats are the VIP section, and tickets are priced at 1,000 MX. Tickets for the middle three rows, the Orchestra section, are 550 pesos.
