Romanza: Enrique de Allende & Effie Passero
The correct date of this event is Monday, February 9, not Saturday, February 7.
International touring artist Enrique de Allende, a versatile tenor whose repertoire is a crossover of opera and pop, made his Carnegie Hall debut in October 2023, and afterward the theater press office pronounced him “Mexico’s new golden voice.” The music producer David Foster, who has trained and produced artists such as Josh Groban and Celine Dion, has this to say about Enrique: “The interpretations of Enrique de Allende bristle your skin.”
Enrique’s guest artist at Carnegie Hall was Effie Passero, a classically trained singer from Modesto, California. When Passero appeared as a contestant on American Idol in 2018, she made it to the semifinals. But as far as Billboard magazine was concerned, Passero was the “true standout,” whose voice was “such a knockout…. She put her incredible pipes on full display.”
Passero subsequently toured the world as lead singer with the music collective Postmodern Jukebox, building a tremendous following in the process. One of her YouTube videos has been viewed over 1 million times.
Enrique and Effie will give their first-ever duo performance in San Miguel on Monday, February 9, at 7pm, at Teatro Angela Peralta, Mesones 82, in Centro. Their accompanist, Peter Valentovič, is an internationally acclaimed Slovak conductor and pianist who has performed on stages worldwide, including La Scala and the Vienna State Opera.
